Top Defenceman
The Top Defenceman award is reserved for the player who was the strongest and most reliable presence on the blue line throughout the regular season. It is one of the team’s highest honours and is meant to recognize the defenceman who combined sound defensive play with strong technical skill and trust in key moments. That includes checking ability, puck movement, accurate passing, strong shooting, the ability to recover defensively, and the confidence to be used in the most important situations. The winner is often a key part of the power play, posts a strong plus-minus rating, and serves as a true anchor on the back end.
