The Carstar Okotoks Bisons captured their 8th HJHL Championship during the 2010–2011 season, proving once again that championships aren’t won on paper — they’re earned when it matters most.
The Bisons finished the regular season with a record of 25 wins and 11 losses for 50 points, placing 4th overall in the HJHL with a .694 winning percentage. While the standings suggested a mid-pack finish, the Bisons were quietly building something far more dangerous — a team that peaked at exactly the right time.
When the playoffs arrived, the Bisons flipped the switch. With resilience, structure, and belief, they battled through the postseason and found a way to win their 8th HJHL Championship, outworking and outlasting teams that had finished ahead of them in the standings. Offensively, the Bisons scored 172 goals, while defensively allowing just 103 against, reinforcing the balance that carried them through a championship run.
Provincial play proved challenging, with the Bisons finishing 1–2 and narrowly missing the opportunity to contend for a medal. But the story of the 2010–2011 season was never about Provincials — it was about a group that rose when the pressure was highest and delivered when everything was on the line.
This championship season was guided by President Jay Pritchard, General Managers Jason McFarlane and Gary Soroka, Head Coach Mike Hannigan, and assistant coaches Jason McFarlane, Rory Hennigan, and BJ Horsley.
The 8th championship stands as a reminder of what defines the Okotoks Bisons — grit, timing, and the ability to be at their best when it matters most.
