2022-2023

The Carstar Okotoks Bisons captured their 13th HJHL Championship during the 2022–2023 season, going back-to-back and cementing themselves once again as the premier program in the HJHL. This was dominance sustained — a team that refused to give up its crown and raised the standard even higher.

Finishing 1st overall in the HJHL, the Bisons posted an outstanding record of 35 wins and just 3 losses, earning 70 points and a powerful .921 winning percentage. With 188 goals for and only 76 goals against, the Bisons controlled games from start to finish, combining relentless pressure with defensive discipline. Two team shutouts capped off a season built on structure, depth, and confidence.

When the playoffs arrived, the Bisons were at their best. They stormed through the postseason and captured their 13th HJHL Championship, defeating the Sylvan Lake Wranglers and completing a statement run that left no doubt who owned the league.

At Provincials, the Bisons were heartbreakingly close to the ultimate prize. Posting a 4–1 record, they earned the Provincial Silver Medal, falling just one win short of gold. The result stung — not because it fell short, but because this team had everything needed to finish on top.

This championship season was guided by President Jason McFarlane, General Managers Ryan Rarick and Dan Dumanski, Head Coach Brad Cobb, and assistant coaches Trevor Bueckert and Dr. Cale Granson — a leadership group that kept the program locked into championship mode.

The 2022–2023 Bisons weren’t just repeat champions — they were the embodiment of sustained excellence. Back-to-back titles. Back on top. And still hungry.
